Florence Blood Pressure Monitoring
You may receive a text from Florence, a text messaging service that can help you manage your health. Florence is a free, simple and confidential service that is used to:
- Ask you to check your blood pressure or other health measurements
- Send you reminders to take your medication
- Provide you with health information and advice
- Connect you with our GP practice
To opt-in to Florence, simply text ACCEPT when you receive a message from 64711. You can also opt-in by speaking to any clinician.

Please help us to help you - the easiest and fastest way to ask for help from a GP is with askmyGP.
It's available for you to log your care request(s) from Monday to Friday; opening times vary but are visible by clicking 'our service times' on the front page. Outside of these times, please call 111 or 999 as appropriate
We respond within working hours, 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and we aim to respond as soon as possible
In times of extreme demand we may exceed capacity and need to close askmyGP to new requests. We will continue to work through all existing requests, and will re-open askmyGP the following morning. If during this time you have an urgent request that must be dealt with on the day you can still log your request by calling 01353 624121. For all non-urgent requests, please try again the following day
All our registered patients are welcome, and as a parent or carer you can use askmyGP on behalf of a patient
You can choose a particular named GP if you wish (so long as they are working that day)
You may specify whether you prefer a telephone or email response, or a face to face consultation
You can login now, without any paperwork
Hospital Appointment and Referral Information
The COVID-19 pandemic has added to the strain on all NHS services. As a result of this, waiting list times for outpatient and specialist appointments and procedures have increased for everybody.
As we do not directly manage the wait times for the hospitals we ask that you please look at My Planned Care, for the current wait times within your region.
https://www.myplannedcare.nhs.uk
We appreciate that these long waits can cause worry and uncertainty about when you will eventually receive an appointment. The practice has no direct access to the hospital appointment lists.
My Planned Care gives you advice and support while you wait and helps you to prepare for your hospital consultation, treatment, or surgery. This includes giving you information about waiting times at your hospital and other supporting and local services while you wait.
This site is updated weekly and can be viewed by anyone, which means you, your family or carer as well as your NHS team can all see the latest information.
Your hospital team will be in touch with you as soon as they can. If you are looking for an update, please check this website before contacting your hospital.
Only call the practice if your condition has genuinely deteriorated, when you will be reviewed by one of the clinical team and appropriate action can be taken in regard to your care
NHS Data Collection
Your health records contain a type of data called confidential patient information. This data can be used to help with research and planning.
You can choose to stop your confidential patient information being used for research and planning. You can also make a choice for someone else like your children under the age of 13.
If you wish to choose to opt-out or check what your current choice is then please go to this page HERE
https://www.nhs.uk
If you are unwell the NHS website is a fantastic resource.
It has details of what to expect, how to treat at home and when to seek medical advice. Make sure you bookmark it to your browser this winter
Minor illnesses
As qualified healthcare professionals, Pharmacists can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches and pains.
If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.
All pharmacists train for 5 years in the use of medicines. They are also trained in managing minor illnesses and providing health and wellbeing advice.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
Access
All patient areas are on the ground floor. Doors are wide enough to admit wheelchairs and there are toilets for the disabled off the main waiting area and in the treatment suite. Car parking spaces, adjacent to the entrance of the medical centre, are reserved for patients with disabled parking badges.

Mereside Practice Privacy Notice
Please find below a link to the revised data provision notice which has been issued by NHS digital and relates to COVID-19 'at risk' patient data. The objective of this collection is on an ongoing basis to identify patients registered at General Practices who may be more at risk of getting seriously ill with COVID-19 and who would be potentially eligible for treatment should they contract COVID-19. The data collected will be analysed and linked with other data NHS Digital holds to identify a list of potentially eligible patients. You can read all about this here: COVID-19 Response Transparency Notice
